Artist Statement

I trust my artwork to represent joy, healing, and beauty. Identity, freedom, refinement, and matters of the heart are the motivations for my artwork and are the sources of my content. My faith, my love of allegory and visual metaphor, and personal experiences provide the vision for the works unifying the perception of my reality with that of others. I am driven by healing. I am inspired by creative writing and bringing that to vision. I am inspired by beauty within struggle. I'd like to believe that the chains that bind us as people are not always physical. I am inspired by gentleness throughout hardship. I am inspired by creation itself. I am inspired by Love. These aspects of my life make way for a common ground and a way for me to understand or heal through life experiences. I am inspired by the fragility of life. Storytelling has strong influence within my work as well.

My original works range from biblical narratives to representations of personal dreams. Commercially these works range from portraits of the deceased to book illustrations. Acrylic, watercolor, and pastel are used in these works. These works represent the everyday person and the dreamer. I am inspired by the works of Hieronymus Bosch and Michelangelo. I am inspired by the lives of William H. Johnson and Vincent Van Gogh. My works carry an organic flow within it; Not necessarily hyper realistic as it is whimsically and emotionally influenced. My intensions creatively is simply to move the viewer emotionally and to provoke thought to the preciousness of life.
